Candle Care & Safety

Every candle uses a real flame. A few simple habits can help you enjoy your candle more safely and keep the burn under control.

Never leave a burning candle unattended.
Keep candles away from children, pets, drafts, curtains, paper, and other flammable materials.
Place candles on a stable, heat-resistant surface before lighting.
Keep the wick trimmed and remove loose wick debris before each burn. Wick care can vary by candle and wick type, so follow any product-specific instructions provided.
Keep the wax pool free of matches, wick trimmings, and other debris.
Extinguish the candle if the flame becomes unusually high, flickers excessively, or produces heavy smoke. Allow it to cool before relighting.
Do not move or handle a candle while the wax is hot or liquid.

Hyper-Realistic Food & Drink Candles

Some Scents & Gifts candles are intentionally designed to look like real desserts, drinks, and other foods. These products are candles, not food or beverages. Do not eat, taste, or consume any part of them. Keep them away from children and pets.

Protect the surface underneath your candle. Before lighting, place the candle on a stable, heat-resistant, nonflammable plate, tray, or candle holder large enough to catch melted wax. Do not burn directly on furniture, counters, shelves, or other surfaces that could be damaged by heat or wax.

Decorative Candles

Some candles may also be designed to resemble flowers or other decorative objects. Treat every candle as a burning product and follow the same fire-safety precautions above.

Wax Melts

Wax melts are for fragrance use only and are not food. Do not eat or consume them, and keep them away from children and pets.

Use wax melts only in a wax warmer designed for melting scented wax.
Follow the warmer manufacturer’s instructions and do not overfill the warming dish.
Place the warmer on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from flammable materials.
Do not add water to the wax.
Do not touch or move the warmer while the wax is hot or liquid. Allow the wax and warmer to cool before handling or cleaning.

Container & Refillable Candles

Stop using a candle if its vessel becomes damaged or unsafe. For refillable products, follow the product-specific refill instructions or contact us before attempting a refill.
